Climate targets of the CHT Group
Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of our time. The CHT Group is aware of its corporate responsibility for climate protection.
The Net-Zero climate targets developed by CHT Group have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
This makes the CHT Group one of the first and few chemical companies in the world to have a net-zero climate target aligned with the 1.5-degree target validated by the SBTi.
What climate targets has CHT Group set itself?
Short and Long-Term target
CHT Group commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 42.4% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.*
CHT Group commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations and downstream transportation and distribution 25% within the same timeframe.
CHT Group commits to reduce absolute GHG emissions from the above scopes by 90 % until 2045.
Overall Net-Zero Target
CHT Group commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045 from a 2021 base year.
*The target boundary includes biogenic land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
Key Pillars of our climate reduction pathway
What measures is the CHT Group taking to achieve its climate targets?
- We reduce our specific energy consumption by 10% until 2025
- Increasing energy and process efficiency of our internal operations
- Electrifying the heat generation
- We are increasingly covering our electricity needs without fossil fuels
- Investment in own photovoltaic power generation facilities
- Electrifying of fleet
- We are increasingly replacing fossil raw materials with bio-based raw materials
- We replacing fossil raw materials with recycled raw materials if possible
- Increasing circularity of packaging materials
- Increasing the proportion of recycled packaging materials
FAQ
Things to know
The SBTi is a global initiative that enables companies to set far-reaching emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. It aims for companies worldwide to halve their emissions by 2030 and achieve Net-Zero by 2050.
The initiative is a collaboration between the CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
