The CHT Group supports InoCottonGROW as associated partner

The joint research project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for sustainable water use along the cotton textile supply chain was successfully started.

Water scarcity and water pollution are core problems in many Asian countries. Apart from demographical and ecological influences, due to the high worldwide demand of textiles produced in Asia, there is an additional influence on the water management-related situation of the region.

Since March 2017, funded for three years, a joint project has been running by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). 14 German research and industry partners work together under the direction of the Research Institute for Water and Waste Management at the RWTH Aachen (FiW), registered association, with more than ten Pakistani and some Turkish cooperation partners.

Represented by an international expert team of colleagues from Pakistan, Switzerland and the Head Office in Germany, the CHT Group is one of the partners of InoCottonGROW.

With its comprehensive chemical and technical textile expertise as well as the process know-how of the whole textile value added-chain, the CHT Group contributes to the work in the project group dealing with textile dyeing processes. The group of companies works closely with the Niederrhein University and the textile machinery manufacturer Thies GmbH & Co. KG from Coesfeld.

First joint test series at chosen customers in Pakistan could be evaluated. Adapted processing auxiliaries and dyestuffs from the innovative process procedure 4SUCCESS of the CHT Group were applied. Compared to the standard procedure applied until present by the Pakistan dyeing company, around 35% water could be saved in the optimised dyeing process of “deep black”.

The tests are to be extended and repeated on a larger scale or further optimised. In addition, for the coming months tests are planned by the Cleaner Production Institute (CPI) in Pakistan. In future press releases we will inform you about the project progression.
