Bio-based wax additives for modern coatings

The requirements for coating systems are evolving. In addition to high performance, resource efficiency, CO2 reduction, and regulatory requirements are increasingly coming into focus. 

Additives in particular play an important role here. Although they are used only in small quantities, they have a significant impact on the properties, service life, and environmental footprint of a formulation.

Bio-based wax additives address exactly this point. They are based on plant-based or biogenic raw materials and represent a high-performance alternative to conventional petrochemical waxes. Modern developments show that they offer comparable performance, for example in scratch resistance, slip behavior, or surface protection.

The targeted use of bio-based additives offers clear advantages:

Current product developments show that bio-based waxes are increasingly matching the performance of synthetic alternatives or can even outperform them in specific properties.
