Almost 200 participants across the textile supply chain – brands and textile manufacturers, chemical suppliers and textile associations – met on July 9th, 2019 in Dhaka City, Bangladesh at the second bluesign® DIALOGUE.
Excellence in Responsible Manufacturing was the headline and key topic of the DIALOGUE. Thus, the current challenges regarding the different requirements made on chemical suppliers as well as textile manufacturers were displayed and discussed.
Andreas Troscheit, Head of Technical Service Finishing and member of CHT’s Brand & Retail Service Team, participated in the expert panel discussion on “Sustainability as a Global Movement – Threats to and Opportunities for the Textile Industry in Bangladesh”.
“CHT has an extraordinary focus on the sustainable development of products and processes,” explained Andreas Troscheit during the expert discussion. “We are investing great efforts and resources being fully convinced that this is the right way. However,” he added, “the great number of various textile requirements and lists of restricted substances is ever increasing. At the moment, CHT is dealing with more than 440 of them.” Andreas Troscheit told the audience that in the CHT Group’s view there is a clear need of harmonization of standards to avoid double approaches for the industry and unnecessary efforts and costs within the supply chain. This would allow working more efficiently on an ecologically and economically successful textile production.
After the panel discussion Andreas Troscheit expressed his pride of having been invited to the event: “As one of the leading textile chemical suppliers and bluesign® system partners since 2008, CHT welcomes to participate in such events. Being invited as an expert to the panel discussion, I was proud to contribute CHT’s view on sustainability and the opportunities for the textile industry.”
